2017 Ford Super Duty Price, Redesign, Release Date

There is no denying the invasion of technology in the automobile sector. However, the heavy-duty truck sector has remained somewhat unaffected by the technology boom. This is largely because for buyers of these vehicles, towing capacity and off-roading capacity matters more than in-cabin climate control or GPS. However, Ford thinks otherwise. That is why the company has toyed with the idea in its 2017 lineup of Super Duty Trucks. The Super Duty lineup was unveiled in 1999 by Ford. The 2017 Ford Super Duty lineup shares a lot with its F-150 line of models.

What’s so new?

In 2017 Super Duty lineup of pickup trucks Ford has switched to a new design language. The trucks now weigh less and feature cutting edge technology. The interior changes are however minor.

2017 Ford Super Duty – Redesign Features:

The 2017 Ford super Duty lineup is made up of high strength steel and aluminum frame. The front grille has been changed for 2017. The aluminum-intensive body design has resulted in significant weight reduction. The 2017 models weigh about 350 pounds less than the 2016 versions, on an average. The super duty lineup includes F-250, 350, 450 and higher end models. The C-shaped headlights give it a menacing look.

The trim levels are XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch and range-topping Platinum Edition. The F-450 however, will not get King Ranch trim. The cab build styles include 2-Door Regular Cab, 4-Door Super Crew Cab, and 4-Door Super Cab. All models come in 4WD and RWD setups. The trucks will be sold in eleven exterior color choices.

The cabin of 2017 Ford Super Duty series does get elements from F-150 series of trucks.  The interior materials are good but not on the same scale with VW Amarok.

2017 Ford Super Duty – Engine Options:

There will be three engine choices for Ford Super Duty 2017 pickup trucks. The 6.2-liter Gasoline V8 engine makes 385 hp and a 6.8-liter Gasoline V10 unit is there. Both are compatible with CNG. There is another 6.7-liter Turbo Diesel V8 engine with a 440 hp output. All the engines will be coupled with a 6-speed TorqShift automatic transmission unit. The diesel engine is surprisingly devoid of clatter and vibration typical of the class. Since these are essentially body-on-frame trucks, some amount of shuddering and shaking on potholes and bumps are expected. However, the super Duty models absorb bumps and deal with rough roads better than ever. The hydraulic rear cab mounts help soften the ride.

2017 Ford Super Duty – Towing Capacity and Trims:

There are plenty of cameras in the Super Duty models. They can be equipped with a forward-facing camera, rearview camera, side-view mirrors camera and even a camera in the trailer. Selected models come equipped with adaptive cruise control and Blind Spot Information System. There is no denying how helpful the cameras are. Higher end models get a panoramic moonroof and massaging seats. Most models also get Ford’s famous Sync 3 infotainment system.

There are quite a few packages you may opt for. Examples are Lariat Ultimate Package, FX5 Off-Road Package, and Tow Technology Package. Towing capacity maxes out at a hefty 32500 pounds.

2017 Ford Super Duty – Pricing and Release Date:

The pricing can vary drastically and it also depends on which trim you choose. A fully equipped 2017 Super Duty truck may cost as much as $85,000. The base trims may start around $33,730. The models will be made available for sale late in 2016.

Conclusion:

The 2017 Ford super Duty continues to impress with its technological edge and redesigned body style. The engines are powerful and overall performance leaves little to grudge about. It does have an edge over Ram 3500 series and Chevy Silverado 3500.
