  1. All engine’s listed above say diesel, but have current petrol specs. I thought the diesel version was going to be a 5.0 liter V8 with over 550 lb.-ft torque and mileage should be bit greater. Nissan XD 5.0 V8 310hp/ 555lb.-ft torque average 15.7 mpg, but single digit when pulling a trailer and much DEF fluid. Rams Ecodiesel 6 cylinder 420 lb.-ft torque averages 28mpg Highway. I’m all for a Toyota Diesel for more power, however, vastly greater fuel economy over petrol would be greatly appreciated. Why not an Inline 6 cylinder 5.0? Ram Cummins is 6.7 inline while the Powestroke is a 6.7 V8 (440hp) Currently I drive a ’15 F350 Powerstroke and pull trailers almost daily. I’m averaging 10.9mpg

  2. The two greatest advantages of a diesel engine are torque and fuel economy.
If Toyota cannot produce a diesel PickUp truck with better fuel specifications than what they are indicating here, they may as well leave their “diesel” PU on the drawing board. An in-line 6 would be a better option than a V-8 for this very reason.
