With the new generation of the truck on the way, we won’t see too many changes in the 2021 GMC Canyon. General Motors will update both its models from this segment (the other one is Chevy Colorado). After that, the new Canyon will be more competitive with the Ford Ranger and Jeep Gladiator.

The 2021 GMC Canyon remains one of the most versatile models in the market. Buyers can choose between petrol and diesel engine, while the pickup is also ready to complete off-road duties. The AT4 package will be revisited. The new generation coming in 2022 doesn’t mean the truckmaker is leaving the upcoming version without any changes. Latest Updates – 2021 GMC Canyon AT4

The AT4 stands for All-Terrain 4WD. So, it is obvious that the truck is going to be an off-road specialist with numerous upgrades which will make it move over the toughest obstacles. The company will soon add the same package to all its SUVs. The 2021 GMC Canyon AT4 is going to be more competitive to the Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and ready to challenge Ford Ranger Raptor when it enters the US market.

The new package is definitely the highlight of the upcoming truck. It brings a special suspension, all-terrain Goodyear tires, 17-inch wheels, and automatic rear differential locks. Of course, there are exterior and interior accents telling you this is not an ordinary version of Canyon pickup.

By purchasing the 2021 Canyon Denali, you will get a 4G  Wi-Fi hotspot, a huge 8-inch infotainment touchscreen display where the rear-view HD camera displays the surroundings. Specifications

There are three engines available for the 2021 GMC Canyon. But, forget about the four-cylinder unit, which is not going to return the best performance. But, as an entry-level option, it is good for 200 hp and 190 lb-ft of torque.

More serious numbers are coming when you pick a V6 powerplant. This one is ready to burst 305 horsepower and 275 lb-ft of torque. It increases the towing capacity to 7,000 pounds while keeping a similar fuel economy as a four-pot mill. Engineers pairs it with an eight-speed automatic gearbox and two-wheel drive, leaving the 4×4 as optional feature, or standard for AT4 and Denali versions.

The most impressive numbers are coming from a diesel engine. Duramax tunes its 2.8 I4 to produce 370 lb-ft of twist, which is good for the class-leading towing capacity of 7,700 pounds. The fuel economy also gets a boost with 20/30 mpg selecting the 2WD. Well, it costs more than other versions, but this mileage will pay off after some while. Additional options include cab and bed configurations.
