What’s Happening With 2022 Rivian R1T Pickup Truck Debut?

The concept was stunning. The prototype promised a great ride. Rivian was set to challenge Tesla, both in electric truck and SUV segments. But, something was not going according to plan. We had huge expectations, especially when Amazon invested $700 million into the development. The R1T didn’t seem to be like another startup concept that will serve only for showing off. A promising future has not started yet. The question is – will the 2022 Rivian R1T debut?

Elon Musk fulfilled its promise – Tesla Cybertruck is out. Haters thought the Rivian will score a point by releasing its truck before the leading electric automaker in the world. Now, the 2022 Rivian R1T needs to catch up with the first electric truck in the world. Plus, it seems like Ford gave up from this model as the base for its own EV pickup. Still, the performances of the R1T are impressive. If such a model enters the production and dealerships, it is going to cause a lot of interest.

Highlights

The R1T is an impressive concept and offers all a fan can imagine. There is an electric drivetrain in the first place. Until Tesla launched Cybertruck, this was just a dream for the pickup world. Not only that, but the 2022 Rivian R1T supposed to make impressive numbers. Of course, the prototype was showing top-notch options. Lower-tier variants would be available without extras and with an approachable price.

The R1T pickup truck looks futuristic, outside and inside. Huge wheels, unique light design, comfortable cabin, digital info-entertaining center, and many more options are there. Of course, the production version will drop some features, which are pretty expensive and would make the price go up through the roof. But, someone would be willing to pay. Still, we are keeping our fingers crossed for the huge screen to appear in the First Edition model.

2022 Rivian R1T Specs

The truck will use electric motors on each wheel. There are three different batteries to provide power. The top of the lineup 180 kWh model will return 750 hp and 830 lb-ft of torque. The 2022 Rivian R1T can cover 400 miles with this motor and tow 11,000 pounds. The payload is 1,760 pounds. The base version comes with a 105 kWh battery and 230 miles of range. The mid-range offer includes a 135-kWh motor and 300 miles of range. According to announcements, the 2022 Rivian R1T will sprint to 60 mph in 3 seconds. Cybertruck can do the same 0.1 sec faster.

Prices, Release Date

The arrival of the 2022 Rivian R1T is still questionable. A lot of things have changed since the concept’s debut. Well, the first electric truck is out and it costs ‘only’ $40,000. When the Rivian presented its vehicle, experts thought that the starting MSRP won’t be under $60,000. Now, the price should be modified. It is another reason why we could see another delay in production. Tesla knows the job and do everything to discourage the competition. For now, Elon Musk is doing it successfully.
