2023 Chevy Silverado SS Preview

Since the Cadillac Escalade V Series are coming, we have a right to expect the performance truck from General Motors. There is no more iconic badge than the SS. And there is no vehicle more famous than the Silverado. Put these two together and the 2023 Chevy Silverado SS seems like the perfect combination.

Nevertheless, the company is yet to announce details about the V Series package for the luxury SUV. One thing is sure – the drivetrain is going to be a turbocharged version of a 6.2-liter V8 mill. Well, we were following rumors earlier and such outcome was something without an alternative. The only mystery is – how far engineers will go with a total power output?

Besides the engine, the body and interior are going through special treatments. First, the 2023 Chevy Silverado SS would need unique parts to handle more than 600 ponies. Plus, the cabin needs to follow the sporty nature of the SuperSport package.

When Can 2023 Chevy Silverado SS Be Available?

Everything is still just speculation. Those rumors are part of the everyday chat in the automotive industry. The only SS model for now is the Camaro pony car. But, speculations are more numerous than before with the Chevrolet Blazer comeback. It is another vehicle that can get the SuperSport treatment. Still, the 2023 Chevy Silverado SS should be a priority. Here is why…

You’ve must be heard that Ford Raptor R and Ram TRX are out. Those trucks are super models with more than 700 horsepower under the hood. Chevrolet is still a competitor in the pickup market, but General Motors still failed to deliver a response. It will cost them a lot. The 2023 Chevy Silverado SS is the perfect choice to compete with those performance-oriented trucks. The only difference is that the SuperSport is more on-road oriented package, while TRX and Raptor are off-roaders. The conclusion is – if Chevrolet and GM want to be competitive, they will have to deliver something unique.

Engine and Specs

The 2023 Chevy Silverado SS is the performance model and big enhancement of power output is something fans don’t doubt in. As a matter of fact, some enthusiasts are pretty upset with the GM. The company has a drivetrain that can make Silverado more special than ever, but engineers are not delivering a supercharged V8 from some reason. The wait should be over with rival trucks being more powerful than ever.

The regular version is already using a 6.2-liter V8. 420 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque are not a joke. But, with availability of 700+ hp in the market, but without bow-tie badge on the front grille, General Motors must react. The perfect powerplant for the 2023 Chevy Silverado SS is a supercharged version of a 6.2-liter engine. Engineers can make this V8 cracking 700 horsepower, making it closer to Ram TRX and Ford Raptor R. However, the most potent configurations are still around 650 ponies (Camaro SS, CT5-V Blackwing, CTS-V).

Of course, this is going to affect the price of the truck. The SS package won’t be cheaper than $70,000.
