2023 Ford F-250 Tremor Preview

Ford made a strong impact with the Tremor package for the legendary F-150. It is a lighter version of the Raptor truck, capable for any off-road challenges. Meanwhile, the Super Duty lacks such a specialist for tough terrains. The 2023 Ford F-250 Tremor might fix the situation and bring the excitement to the lineup. This pickup will compete with Ram 2500 Power Wagon and GMC Sierra 2500 AT4. Also, we don’t know if the Tremor package comes for the F-350 and F-450 trucks.

The 2023 Ford F-250 Tremor will be a refreshment for the lineup. This truck is available in six grades – XL, XLT, Lariat, King Ranch, Platinum and Limited. There is a huge gap between Lariat and King Ranch, with prices $53,000 and $69,000. We believe that Tremor package will fit somewhere between these two. Bringing the Raptor to the HD segment would increase the price. Such a vehicle will be at the same level with the Limited model, priced above $90k.

2023 Ford F-250 Tremor Engine

Under the hood of the 2023 Ford F-250 Tremor won’t be any different engine you can’t find on other versions. That means the truck is getting proven drivetrains. Ford recently launched two new plants for the HD segment. A 6.8-liter and 7.3-liter are both petrol V8 engines with excellent capabilities. But, the best performances come from a turbodiesel. Still, the company might drop a 6.7-liter Powerstroke for the Tremor package. In the foreseeable future, trucks will become EVs, and the first step is elimination of diesel units. A 3.0-liter Powerstroke is already discontinued from the F-150 pickup.

A 6.8-liter gasoline engine is good for 362 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque. The Godzilla unit is slightly larger and creates 430 hp and 480 lb-ft. The good thing about both plants is that they deliver the maximum output with regular gas.

2023 Ford F-250 Tremor Equipment

As the off-road specialist, we can assume main upgrades for the 2023 Ford F-250 Tremor. First of all, that will be a 4×4 drive. A 4×2 won’t be available. Engineers could tune the configuration to eventually use this feature when the 4WD is not needed. A 10-speed automatic gearbox will be a power router, like for the rest of the lineup.

For the toughest obstacles, the Tremor truck needs special suspension. However, Ford won’t go with the most advanced technology reserved for the Raptor grade of the F-150 model. If the F-250 carries over the rest of the system, we can expect a few drive modes and locking rear differential. Basically, the Tremor upgrades the XLT grade, while the Raptor brings features for a more serious off-roading and premium accessories the Lariat model offers.

Estimated Price

All we can do for now is to estimate the price of the truck. Like said, there is a big gap between Lariat and King Ranch, and as an upgrade of the XLT version, the Ford F-250 Tremor would perfectly suit here. A $63,000 price tag is totally acceptable. F-150 Raptor costs more than $76,000, while the Tremor is around $60k.
