The best version of the mid-size truck is yet to be released, and it is the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor. This badge is exclusive for its larger sibling, the F-150 pickup. Still, the full-size model is getting a new version, Raptor R, with more than 750 horsepower. The expansion of the lineup is not ending there. Besides the Ranger, another vehicle might get this off-road oriented package. That is Bronco SUV.
Ever since the Ranger came back to the US dealerships, it was obvious that a turbo-four is not going to be the only engine available for the mid-size pickup. To be competitive with the competition, the truck needed more options. First of all, engines, and especially, a package that will allow truckers a ride in toughest weather and terrain conditions. The 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor is the best solution in both cases.
Under the Hood of the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor
The list of upgrades made to the base truck will be long. But, the most important addition is going to lay under the bonnet. That is a more potent drivetrain than the existing 2.3-liter turbo-four with 300 hp. A V6 could easily add more power. Even the F-150 Raptor is using a six-cylinder mill with a high-output setup. Still, the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor is not going to need 450 hp. Instead, a 3.0-liter V6 might be tuned to create up to 400 horsepower and 450 lb-ft. Such a configuration is more likely and suits perfect to this class. Outputs promise a lot of fun.
Another option is a diesel engine. Still, this on is not so likely. Outside the US, the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor uses an oil burner. It is a turbo-four mill with 200 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. Well, those numbers sound good, especially if you compare them to the Duramax mill under the hood of Ranger’s main competitor, Chevy Colorado. Ford might actually take on its archrival, but diesel engine is not be there in the combo with the Raptor package.
Other Upgrades
A more potent engine is not the only new thing we will see on the toughest version of the Ranger truck. For the best off-road impression, the company is going to install a special suspension, that will allow truckers a drive in the wildest outskirts. It is very likely that the 2023 Ranger Raptor will have a higher stance. The base version has a ground clearance of 9 inches, which is already pretty good. Shocks will absorb bumps on the road and improve the overall comfort. Of course, the truck is getting some underbody protection, a special bedliner, tow hooks… And interior will introduce high-end technology and features.
When Will 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor Be Available?
If you ask truckers, Ford is already late. The truck should be our already. But, even if the Blue Oval company had some plans, they were spoiled because of the COVID outburst. Now, the 2023 Ford Ranger Raptor has a green light for the premiere and we will probably see it in next few months.
