The company is revisiting all the drivetrains and this one should become the base choice for the Canyon and Colorado as well, dropping a naturally-aspirated four-banger as the entry-level power source. It has sense, since only the small share of sales is coming from models with a weak output. Truckers love to get towing potential. And a 3.6-liter V6 engine with more than 300 hp is going to deliver 7,000 pounds.
Nevertheless, the main drivetrain remains the 2023 GMC Canyon Diesel. A 2.8-liter Duramax mill can produce 200 hp and 370 lb-ft. Converted to towing capacity, that is 7,700 pounds. Such hauling potential is still keeping Canyon at the top of the list, but it won’t stay for too long.
2023 GMC Canyon Release Date and Price
By dropping a four-pot engine, the 2023 GMC Canyon will come with increased price. Also, a turbo-four and a V6 configurations will be more expensive after the redesign. AT4 package will be over $40,000, where you can already find Denali version. Heavily loaded, the Canyon can reach $50,000 mark, being one of the most luxurious mid-size trucks in the market.
