The 2021 Mazda BT-50 will do the same thanks to the new technology and limited-slip differentials. One thing is sure – Mazda will deliver an attractive model, although the new generation of the D-Max is drawing attention as well. The ultimate goal is to bring BT-50 to the US. However, this is not likely to happen in 2021.
New Engines
Since two trucks are sharing platforms, there is a possibility for the 2021 Mazda BT-50 to take the same engines as Isuzu. If this happens, the main source of power will be a 3.0-liter turbodiesel mill. It can produce 190 horsepower and 330 lb-ft of torque. These are the average values for this class of pickups. Still, engineers need to make this one cleaner if they want to offer it to buyers in Europe.
Isuzu also announced a 1.9-liter bi-turbo engine for Old Continent. Well, we still don’t have any clues about its development or outputs. It must be more efficient than the new turbodiesel. Let’s not forget Mazda’s powerplants as well. For now, the pickup is using 2.2 and 3.2 displacements. The first one is cleaner, and a favorite to remain a part of the lineup. It is tuned to burst 150 hp and 280 lb-ft, while a 3.2-liter unit creates 200 ponies and 350 lb-ft.
