The 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid is going to set up some challenges to the competition.
We already see Ram 1500 with a mild-hybrid configuration. It is not exactly what fans expect from such a truck. But, a small system is a good start and the base for upgrades. On the other hand, the 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid is not going to waste time with some light versions. Engineers will deliver all you want from such a setup. So, the hybrid truck should improve the gas mileage and the power outputs eventually. At the same time, it has to keep towing capacity and off-road capability.
2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid Specs
The 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid will get power from the 3.5-liter V6 engine. The system is called PowerBoost Hybrid and it also features a twin-turbo setup. Well, we already see this one working on F-150 Raptor and some other full-size SUVs. In this case, the focus will be on the gas mileage. According to reports, the hybrid truck will be able to record 26/25 mpg in the city/on the highway. This is better than any other engine, including a diesel (23 mpg combined).
An all-wheel drive is optional. Surprisingly, it is not consuming a lot more fuel. The expected rating is 24 mpg combined. Still, it will depend on the maintenance and the terrain structure. The outputs are not confirmed yet, but the 2022 F-150 Hybrid should be able to deliver about 430 hp and 570 lb-ft of torque. Just for the comparison, the Raptor edition is also using a 3.5-l twin-turbo configuration, which is good for 450 ponies and 510 pound-feet.
When Will 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid be Available?
The release date of the 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid is not officially confirmed yet. But, reliable sources in the company are confident that the development will be on schedule and the truck is going to appear as 2022 YM. Ford is not without experience and they electrifying the entire lineup. The most recent additions were Ford Explorer, whose hybrid is good for 315 hp, while the Lincoln Aviator is even more enhanced, and delivers nearly 500 ponies.
Another reason why the truckmaker needs to speed up the production of the 2022 Ford F-150 Hybrid and start the production is the comeback of the Hummer. The nameplate was purchased by General Motors and it will be used with the GMC badge. Also, it is not an SUV anymore, but an electric truck. The first impression says we can expect big things from the Hummer and its advanced features. Ford will eventually launch the electric pickup as well. At this time, a hybrid system seems to be a more reasonable solution.
