The 2022 Honda Ridgeline remains the only truck in the market with a unibody chassis. Well, the Japanese carmaker is going to stick to the same platform. However, Honda is trying to increase the interest in the versatile pickup by delivering a few changes to the upcoming vehicle. Definitely, if the Type R appears, it will steal the show. Well, this is the model we already wrote about, but the company is not launching it yet.
Until the performance-oriented truck shows up, the 2022 Honda Ridgeline will continue to use one of the most reliable units in the market. A 3.5-liter V6 also powers popular SUVs, Pilot and Passport. The towing capacity is not competitive, mainly because of the unibody architecture. On the other hand, no truck using a ladder frame can offer the driving and handling of the Ridgeline. The bad thing is – SUVs can, and those versatile vehicles are also able to tow a lot.
2022 Honda Ridgeline Redesign
One of the things that can make the 2022 Honda Ridgeline more attractive to buyers is the redesign. The new look and fresh styling will always cause attention. We believe in this since the truck is sharing the language with the Pilot SUV, which has been spotted testing the new generation. The fresh design and potential PHEV drivetrain should launch the SUV to the top spots of sales charts. With Pilot updates, we are expecting similar revisits on the Ridgeline.
2022 Honda Ridgeline Interior
This is the sporty truck and its interior reflects this. Everything is like you are driving an SUV. One of the strong sides is the comfort of passengers. Honda will try to keep that. On the other hand, the entry-level trim levels are not so rich with equipment and upscale materials. In a matter of fact, some cheap plastic must be replaced. Details are vivid and interesting, but it doesn’t change the opinion. A clean look and simple commands will make you love the layout.
As you climb up the trim level hierarchy, the offer becomes more interesting. There are no doubts the company is going to add something new and update the packages. For now, Sport, RTL, RTL-E, and Black Edition are available. The high-end options are leather upholstery, 540-watt audio, and a blind-spot monitoring system.
2022 Honda Ridgeline Type R
The high-performance edition should improve the specs and draw attention. One of the reasons why we believe the 2022 Honda Ridgeline Type R is finally happening is the Acura MDX Type S. Honda’s premium brand brought back an iconic badge. Now, it is the turn for the Ridgeline and Pilot to do the same. The Type S increased the outputs to 355 hp and 350 lb-ft of torque. With such numbers, the 2022 Ridgeline Type R would be one of the hottest trucks in the market next season. A 3.5-liter naturally-aspirated V6 remains the main drivetrain, and the only choice if Honda misses again to deliver the performance-oriented truck. Of course, there are also stylish details and red accents that will make Ridgeline Type R eye-catching.
