The meanest truck in the lineup is going to be loaded with the best options. Besides the parts that will enhance its appearance and durability, the drivetrain is the most important for the performance of the off-road oriented truck. So, FCA will use a diesel unit only for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hercules.
This model sits above the existing high-end versions, Mojave and Rubicon. We assume the Hercules package is going to feature the best options from those two bundles, plus some exclusive accessories. For now, everything is just an interesting concept. But, the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hercules could deal with Toyota Tacoma TRD Pro and Chevy Colorado ZR2 trucks.
Under the Hood
A diesel engine is the best option for the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hercules. A 3.0-liter turbocharged oil burner can produce an incredible level of torque. The drivetrain seems to be a bit too big for the mid-size class. But, FCA engineers don’t share the same opinion, leading to the best-in-class torque output of 480 lb-ft. A six-cylinder unit can also produce 260 horsepower. A diesel engine is the best match for the off-road package. Its high twisting power will help the truck overcome every obstacle. Of course, there are other upgrades as well, to provide a smoother and more comfortable ride.
A petrol V6 engine is also an option. For the regular Gladiator pickup, that is a 3.6-liter Pentastar unit with 285 hp. Nevertheless, a gasoline model delivers only 260 lb-ft. And finally, if that is important, this engine consumes more fuel than the diesel edition.
2023 Jeep Gladiator Hercules vs Mojave vs Rubicon
Overland is the entry-level version if you are after an off-road package for the Gladiator truck. Still, when going to any serious adventure, you will want to upgrade it. Rubicon is available with special 17-inch wheels wrapped in all-terrain tires. Also, the 4.10 rear axle ratio boosts the performance in tough road and weather conditions, especially if there is a need for towing. For a better off-road experience, this package also adds locking differentials, front and back, electronically disconnecting front stabilizer bar, and Fox shocks. Unique set of fenders increases ground clearance. Skid plates will protect the underbody. The performance gains a boost thanks to the two-speed transfer case specialized for off-road gear switching.
Mojave edition sits above the Rubicon and the Gladiator is not available with the Trailhawk package. So, the Rubicon model is upgraded with the stiffer frame. The Mojave can run faster off the road. The company drops locking front differential and disconnecting stabilizer bar to achieve a better performance at higher speeds. Fox shocks now come with hydraulic jounce bumpers.
Having all this in mind, we can’t wait to see what else the 2023 Jeep Gladiator Hercules can add. Well, the Mojave version is Desert-rated, which is an upgrade from the Trail-rated Rubicon. Either way, every Jeep with the 4×4 promise adventure, no matter what kind of terrain is waiting. Upgrades will make the Hercules the most expensive off-road truck in the lineup. We believe it can cost the same as the premium High Altitude package.
