Cybertruck was just a test. The real deal comes with the 2023 Tesla pickup truck. The bad thing is that we don’t have too many details about the upcoming vehicle. Some say the company will return to its original nomenclature with a nameplate that includes “Model” keyword. Some say that could be Model P or Model T. You see the point – T for truck or P for pickup.
Anyway, a few things are sure. The 2023 Tesla pickup truck will be an all-electric model. The styling will be totally different compared to the Cybertruck, which is too futuristic. Designers will create a vehicle that will look like some of the conventional trucks we see on the market. Well, the US manufacturer will need it, since the electric pickups are being under development by Ford and GM as well.
2023 Tesla Pickup Truck Towing Capacity and Range
The 2023 Tesla pickup truck is introducing fresh styling, but engineering solutions would cost extra. So, the best choice is to carry over electric drivetrain from the Cybertruck. Model P or Model T will definitely cover at least 250 miles. With dual-motor configuration, the drive range increases to 300 miles. The new 2023 Tesla truck is not going to feature the high-end setup with tri-motor configuration.
The towing capacity is expected to be 7,000-8,000 lbs with the single motor. The second battery adds more potential, and the hauling can jump to 10,000 pounds. The recharge technology is evolving and nowadays, those motors need less time to get fully charged. However, it might become expensive, either recharging the vehicle at home, or at some of the stations. Tesla’s rapid chargers will be available in limited number of states.
When Will 2023 Tesla Pickup Truck Come Out?
The release date of the 2023 Tesla pickup truck is not set yet. Elon Musk and the company are still considering the best moves for the upcoming season. Well, there is already a truck available for buyers, so the new model is probably not at the top of priorities. On the other hand, the Cybertruck is not what truckers expected. The first news about the 2023 Tesla pickup will be out later this year. Also, we are looking for details about the nameplate. The current truck stole the show and stepped away from the classic nomenclature. In the future, the Cybertruck could be renamed to Tesla Model P or Tesla Model T.
Competition
What can make the US company to deliver another truck is the competition. Well, Tesla is a leader in electric automotive world. Still, Elon Musk can’t ignore the presence of other companies. General Motors seems to be the biggest threat at the moment. The GMC Hummer truck is coming out with some stunning features. Ford is not going to be too late behind its archrivals. The F-150 Lighting is now official and it is ready to take on the Cybertruck and Hummer EUT. Still, the 2023 Tesla pickup truck is going to wipe out the competition and make the statement. The bad thing is that the price is not going to be so affordable as for the existing model in this segment.
