2021 Ford F-150 Full-Electric Pickup Truck

Tesla sets the highest priority for the electric truck. Rivian made a debut with its concept of such a vehicle. The 2021 Ford F-150 Full-Electric Pickup Truck is the response by the Blue Oval company. The leading truckmaker is not letting this market go so smoothly.

We already know all about Ford’s electrification plan. But, so far, we don’t have these spectacular names out on the market. But the first products are there. The most impressive are mid-size SUVs, Explorer and Lincoln Aviator, with a PHEV system that produces 400 and more horsepower. But, the company still wants the 2021 Ford F-150 Full-Electric Pickup Truck rather than any hybrid version.

What Do We Know So Far?

Well, the US carmaker didn’t release any detail about this pickup truck. But, they announced in the next couple of years there will be a lot of electric units under the hoods of their vehicles. That includes the flagship models, F-150 truck and Mustang. The news about the pony car reported that Mach1 is the model with an electric motor. But, the most recent updates are saying the name will be changed.

For the 2021 Ford F-150 Full-Electric Pickup Truck, this is very important since we can figure out that the company means business. In the next few months, we expect the first official news about the next model in the priority list. Ford can’t lose time with its rivals being severe about their models.

Do We Need 2021 Ford F-150 Full-Electric Pickup Truck?

There are two reasons why there are no electric pickups on the market yet. First, development and production are very expensive, and the price of the final product would be hefty. At least if you want to make an electric truck with the same capabilities as the conventional model.

Another reason is performance. We can witness electric models in other vehicles, usually small segments. The highlight of these is a long-range. But, trucks are there to tow. With a load, the mileage is going to suffer. Hybrid vehicles are not haulers, and this is one of the major obstacles. Well, Ford wants to respond to the Rivian R1T truck and its towing capacity of 11,000 pounds. But, these are only announcements, and we will see how much the truck can tow when it enters production.

Other Projects

The 2021 Ford F-150 Full-Electric Pickup Truck is not the only EV model. The company also teased fans with electric SUV, and we also mentioned Mustang. This is not all. Further, Ford is developing the hybrid drivetrain for full-size SUVs. However, we believe they will wait and place a similar drivetrain as for the pickup truck. Ford Escape is not a hybrid yet, and most of its rivals are already out with such technology. So, this might be one of the first models we will see in the future.

Electrification Plan

The Blue Oval company spends billions of dollars on the electrification of its entire fleet. The ultimate goal is to deliver an electric drivetrain for each model by 2025. So, in the next couple of years, we will see more PHEV, EV, and base, hybrid models. For this purpose, Ford prepared $15 billion for the first five-year run that ends in 2023.
