The 2021 Ford Super Duty is coming in three different versions – F250, F-350, and F-450. The most impressive one is the most capable truck – F-350 dually with the class-leading towing capacity. This one beats the competition with 35,750 pounds, 250 more than Chevy Silverado 3500 and 650 over Ram 3500HD.
We had a couple of updates under the hood for the current version. Before that, the 2021 Ford Super Duty entered the new generation with the new look. So, with such changes in recent years, we cannot expect too many changes in the upcoming season. Well, a new trim is always an option and the company could refresh the offer with extra features on lower trim levels.
2021 Ford Super Duty New Engine
The highlight of the 2021 Ford Super Duty is a new engine. A 7.3-liter V8 unit finally debuted with 430 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque. Also, the company connects it with the latest transmission technology. A ten-speed case transfers power to rear wheels. Of course, the four-wheel drive is required for the best driving impression.
Standard Specs
Ford kept a 6.2-liter gasoline engine. Well, this one will become the least interesting model. Not a surprise, since it delivers the least energy. 385 ponies and 430 lb-ft of torque are not competitive any more, especially mated to an old six-speed transmission.
On the other hand, you will squeeze the maximum from the 2021 Ford Super Duty if you choose a diesel powerplant. A 6.7-liter unit is retuned for the latest generation and it can now burst 1,050 pound-feet of torque. That is enough for 35,750 lbs of towing capacity. Its main rivals can match that. Ram 3500 Dually is good for 35,100, and Chevrolet Silverado 3500 can pull 35,500 pounds.
2021 Ford Super Duty Trims
The base package for the 2021 Super Duty is the XL. With this one, buyers are not getting the best the Blue Oval has to offer. Whatsoever, the XLT package is already bringing something interesting. For example, the interior is organized better with the rear-seat storage and blind-spot monitors. A nine-inch screen is the center of the infotainment system, which also offers Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Things will become serious if you are about to spend more money on the 2021 Ford Super Duty Lariat. Larger wheels, halo lights, leather seats, premium audio, and 10-way power driver seat are highlights of this model. But, that is not all Ford is going to offer. King Ranch adds a camera system for the trailer. Platinum package comes with a lot of premium system you will find on luxury sedans, while the most expensive options are available with the Limited package. Some of them are wireless charging, a unique interior with wooden accents, twin moonroof. Well, this one comes only with four-wheel drive and Crew cab configuration.
Competition
The new 2021 Super Duty will continue its battle against the archrivals from the FCA and GM. Ram 2500/3500 are taking advantage of the popularity of its smaller sibling Ram 1500, which is now more popular than the iconic Silverado. However, in the heavy-duty class, there are more buyers opting for the Silverado HD. Super Duty is far away from both rivals.
